50th Wedding Anniversary Photo |
Since our
marriage in 1904, twelve children have been born to us--nine daughters and
three sons. All have been married in the
temple except for two except and one who isn't married yet. She, Theola, has filled a 20 month mission.
(Theola was married later in the temple.)
All of them are working or have worked in the church.

Besides our
children we have at this time 6 June 1954, forty-one grand children and 12
great grand children.
I was
ordained a High Priest by President W. W. Selck on the 10 December 1933; who
was ordained by John Henry Smith, 3 February 1908; who was ordained by Wilford
Woodruff on 27 October 1880; who was ordained 26 April 1839 by David Whitmer;
who was ordained by Joseph Smith Jr.; who was ordained by Peter, James and
John; who were ordained by Jesus Christ, who was sent of God.
We moved from
Grant to Roberts where I labored again as assistant in the Sunday School. I was called into the California Mission on
28 Dec. 1938. While there our youngest
son, Vergil, died. I returned home 27
February 1939, and went back to the mission field 19 December 1939. I labored in the Imperial Valley District,
and was privileged to baptize a man and his wife. After returning home, I labored in the Rigby
Stake Mission for 14 more months. Then I
was called as first counselor in the Bishopric of the Roberts Ward. After being released from this position, I
was chairman of the High Priests and of the Genealogy of the same ward.
We moved back
to Grant Ward where I and my wife were called to be Stake Missionaries. We labored from 25 September 1951 to 25
October 1953. I am now laboring as adviser to the Priests of the Grant ward.
I have worked as teacher in Sunday School, assistant in Mutual, teacher
in religion class, and many times a ward teacher.
Grandpa Cook
died 20 October 1960 and was buried 22 October 1960 in the Grant Central Cemetery.
Grandpa was a
wonderful person with a great deal of faith.
It will be exciting to meet him again someday and to truly thank him for
the great heritage that he has bestowed upon me and my family. I wish I would have known him better and
appreciated more all of the things he did.
