Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook (1918-1999) Autobiography Part 20

This is the final video of Mother telling her life story.  It has been quite the journey for me and I hope for you.  In this final episode she tells a few more antics and then bears her testimony of the Gospel.  It is priceless.  At the end of the video, we get a glimpse of her home outside and inside.  She shows pictures of varies family members and tells who they are.  It is a fitting way to end this amazing project.  Love you, Mother.  Thanks for the memories!  You live on forever in all of the lives that you have touched.

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook (1918-1999) Autobiography Part 17

Here is the next episode of Mother's autobiography. I must say this one was a very tender one for me and for her. It hurt like the dickens for me to have to tell her when she didn't want to walk the parallel bars that I didn't care. If she didn't want to walk again that was okay by me. I will have to clarify one thing though. In the video when she said she called me a brat for saying that. Well that is not quite what she said. She said, "D*** you Lois, I'll show you." And she did. I love her and miss her so very much. Some day we will meet again!

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook (1918-1999) Autobiography Part 14

I am finally home long enough to get another segment of Mother's Life Story ready.  She finishes telling about the trip her, Dad, and Darrell took and then about Dad's death. She mentions that when she died she had a silver dollar and some other coins for us kids.  I have mine and will add pictures of my coins and the little leather holder that she kept them in.  Man, I miss her and Dad.

I think that you will really enjoy this one.  Theron gets into hot water again.  It is priceless.  Enjoy

Here is a picture of the cookie jar that Mother talks about in the video.  I am now the proud owner of said cookie jar and I love it.  It brings back so so many memories.

Here is the next installment of Mother's autobiography.  There is a part in it that is pretty poor quality but it is still priceless and can be understood without any problem.  Please let me know if you are enjoying these videos and if there is something I can do that would make them better.

Autobiography of Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook-Part 3

Here is the third installment of Mother's autobiography.  I decided not to add pictures but to use the video of Mother telling the story herself.  It really brings out her personality.  Sure miss this sweet lady.

Autobiography of Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook-Part One

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook
Autobiography

On 22 March 1992, my cousin, Frank Jaynes, went to my Mother's home in Menan, Idaho, and video taped her telling her life story.  I have decided this needs to be shared and so I have recorded her voice onto the computer and then have made a movie with her pictures and her narrating her story.  It is quite lengthy and so it will be in many segments.

Happy Mother's Day

My angel mother, Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook

While the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of “overtime”, when the angel appeared and said, “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”
And the Lord said, “Have you read the spec on this order?”
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic.
     Have 180 movable parts…all replaceable.
Have a lap that disappears when she stand up.
Have a kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair.
And have six pair of hands.
The angel shook her head slowly and said, “Six pairs of hands…not possible.
“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord.  “It’s the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have.”
“That’s on the standard model?” asked the angel.
The Lord nodded.  “One pair that see through closed doors when she asks, ‘What are you kids doing in there?’ when she already knows.  Another here in the back of her head that see what she shouldn’t, but when she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and reflect, ‘I understand and I love you’ without so much as uttering a word.”
“Lord,” said the angel, touching His sleeve gently, “Come to bed.  Tomorrow….”
“I can’t,” said the Lord.  I’m so close to creating something so close to myself.  Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick…can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger…and can get a nine-year old to stand under a shower.”
The angel circled the model of The Mother very slowly. “It’s too soft,” she sighed.
“But tough,” said the Lord excitedly.  “You cannot imagine what this Mother can do or endure.”
     “Can it think?”
“Not only think, but it can reason and compromise,” said the Creator.
Finally, the angel bent over and ran her fingers across the cheek.  “There’s a leak,” she pronounced.  “I told you you were trying to put too much into this model.  You cannot ignore the stress factor.”
The Lord moved in for a closer look and gently lifted the drop of moisture to His finger where it glistened and sparkled in the light.
     “It’s not a leak,” He said.  “It’s a tear.”
“A tear?” asked the angel.  “What’s it for?”
“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, compassion, pain, loneliness, and pride.”
“You are a genius,” said the angel.
The Lord looked somber.  “I didn’t put it there.”

Vergil Franklin Cook's Tribute

On Mother's, Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook's, 80th birthday, the family all wrote a tribute to her.  I thought it would be nice to post them on the blog so that all of us could read them and have a copy of them.  They are priceless.  Thanks to Carla for making the book, putting the pages all together and loaning me the book so I could do this.  Hope you will enjoy reading them.

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor was born 16 November 1918 and died 9 November 1999.  She celebrated her 80th birthday 16 November 1998.  So all these tributes were written at that time.

I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment on the blog so that I know which families I still need to let know about what I am trying to do.  Thanks.

You will need to click on the pages in order to be able to read them.

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook's Song

This is a song that my mother, Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook made up and sang.  She was born 16 November 1918 and died 9 November 1999.  I still miss her very much.  Hope you enjoy her song.

Ruth came from Utah to Idaho to have a summer of fun,
There she met a handsome guy and he told her she was the one,
And so they were wed, and their family begun.

Heavenly Father needed Virgil more than he was needed here,
So he sent to Ruth a tiny son to give her comfort and cheer,
He was her pride and her joy.

Gave him the name of Franklin; goodness how he did grow,
Then Cleo started dating Ruth and romance there did glow,
They found true love and wouldn't you know,

The 20th of December 1939 that was the day they chose
To become man and wife,
That is how this story goes.

Theron came into the family; how he kept them on the jump,
One day he hid in a milk can away from everyone,
How he kept the family on the run.

Joyce came into the family; two brother she had now,
They locked her in the outhouse to keep her out of their fun,
And Mom got mad and paddled their bums.

Lois came to join the family.  "Another girl," said the boys.
Joyce was happy with her sister till she poked out the eyes of her doll.
Then she said, "Why couldn't she have been a boy?"

The family moved to Wyoming there Kay joined the band.
And now the Cook family had 3 boys and 2 girls in the clan.
What a time for mom and dad!

Back to Menan we all traveled to Idaho where Darrell was born.
We thought it was pretty neat to have a baby boy.
What a time we had when he started to grow.

The things he did and thought of are too numerous to write,
So now our precious little clan must work with all our might
To join Virgil, Cleo, and Darrell in another life.
