Vergil Franklin Cook's Tribute

On Mother's, Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook's, 80th birthday, the family all wrote a tribute to her.  I thought it would be nice to post them on the blog so that all of us could read them and have a copy of them.  They are priceless.  Thanks to Carla for making the book, putting the pages all together and loaning me the book so I could do this.  Hope you will enjoy reading them.

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor was born 16 November 1918 and died 9 November 1999.  She celebrated her 80th birthday 16 November 1998.  So all these tributes were written at that time.

I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment on the blog so that I know which families I still need to let know about what I am trying to do.  Thanks.

You will need to click on the pages in order to be able to read them.

Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook's Song

This is a song that my mother, Ruth Elizabeth Proctor Cook made up and sang.  She was born 16 November 1918 and died 9 November 1999.  I still miss her very much.  Hope you enjoy her song.

Ruth came from Utah to Idaho to have a summer of fun,
There she met a handsome guy and he told her she was the one,
And so they were wed, and their family begun.

Heavenly Father needed Virgil more than he was needed here,
So he sent to Ruth a tiny son to give her comfort and cheer,
He was her pride and her joy.

Gave him the name of Franklin; goodness how he did grow,
Then Cleo started dating Ruth and romance there did glow,
They found true love and wouldn't you know,

The 20th of December 1939 that was the day they chose
To become man and wife,
That is how this story goes.

Theron came into the family; how he kept them on the jump,
One day he hid in a milk can away from everyone,
How he kept the family on the run.

Joyce came into the family; two brother she had now,
They locked her in the outhouse to keep her out of their fun,
And Mom got mad and paddled their bums.

Lois came to join the family.  "Another girl," said the boys.
Joyce was happy with her sister till she poked out the eyes of her doll.
Then she said, "Why couldn't she have been a boy?"

The family moved to Wyoming there Kay joined the band.
And now the Cook family had 3 boys and 2 girls in the clan.
What a time for mom and dad!

Back to Menan we all traveled to Idaho where Darrell was born.
We thought it was pretty neat to have a baby boy.
What a time we had when he started to grow.

The things he did and thought of are too numerous to write,
So now our precious little clan must work with all our might
To join Virgil, Cleo, and Darrell in another life.
